| 1960 | A few small airlines began using the airstrip. This generated some interest in using at as an airport again.

| 1969 | The Council bought the land and decided to make it a civil passenger airport again.

| 1974 | The passenger building was opened to the public with the airport still being known as Kirmington Airport. When the county of Humberside was formed, the airport got the new name of Humberside Airport.

| 1975 | The first scheduled flight out of Humberside Airport was a flight to Amsterdam.

| 1983 | Due to a greater number of passengers, a new restaurant was added to the airport.

| 1987 | The airport became a private limited company.
|
| 1992 | There were extensive developments to the airport including an extension to the runway.

| 1996 | New facilities included passenger lounges and check-in facilities.
|
| 1999 | New leadership occurred when Manchester Airport plc took control of the shares of Humberside Airport.
